Reflection
Coming into this semester I had only taken one creative writing course, and I expected this course to be very similar in structure. Too my surprise, this course has been anything but. This course has opened my eyes to a different aspect of creative writing, one that seems fitting in this modern day age that we have all been drawn into. Creative writing in digital spaces has allowed me to adventure into a different world of creative writing, one that combines traditional thought and writing, with components embedded within digitalized technology and more visually induced work.
One of the most interesting aspects of creative writing in digital spaces that I learned during this semester is how social media can be incorporated into creative writing. Social media is now serving as a platform for authors to share thoughts, short stories, gain exposure for works, and a place for writing enthusiasts around the world to come together. I enjoyed learning about all the authors that have taken to twitter. This has proved to be very entertaining as I now follow numerous authors on twitter.
Aside from the social media aspect, I also found all the various tools that were introduced to our class to be interesting as well as beneficial. Tools such as hyperlink approaches within stories, creative writing software, prezi, blogs, and vlogs, all are aiding in the advancement of creative writing in digital spaces.
This class was truly enjoyable, and even came up as the topic of conversation in a few of my other classes this semester. Creative writing in digital spaces is an excellent class, and I think it is obvious that its advancement is surely to flourish in the coming years, and will prosper even more greatly in the future. I think it is quite possible that traditional writing as we know it, will perish in the future, and is certain, like everything else, to be replaced with digital tools and technology.
